“How I Lost the Election, by H.R. Clinton” – A full length portrait of President Donald Trump by Jim Nelson.
“After the election in 2016, I did a sketch of President Donald Trump and sent it to the White House. I received a letter from the White House that they liked the portrait and were going to keep the painting on file in case they needed my services. I was just surprised to hear from them.
Several years later, I did a full length portrait of President Trump and rolled the canvas up and sent it to the White House. This time, I received a call from the curator at the White House Archives, who asked if I was Jim Nelson, who painted the portrait. When I asked if they were going to send the painting back, he said that no, the painting would be part of the White House Archives now.
The reference to Hillary Clinton in the title refers to one of the books in the bookcase in the painting. It was meant to add some humor to one of the most pivotal elections in recent memory.”
